ESYS are experienced in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies in the field of enterprise, economic and community development. The company specialises in drawing out policy issues from econometric analysis, using a variety of tools & techniques to aid the understanding of policy-makers.

Our work includes statistical analysis, preparation of market analysis, business planning, economic impact assessment, appraisal & evaluation, feasibility studies, policy development, economic projections and futures analysis. Esys has developed an economic model providing forecasts of GVA, employment and earnings at a fine grained spatial level. The model has been especially useful in informing debates around spatial relationships and futures based analysis. The company has also developed particular expertise around the analysis of sectors not well represented in official data sources. 

The firm has considerable experience in developing innovative methodologies, which combine quantitative data analysis with qualitative analysis, to yield understanding of underlying drivers.

The company has also advised economic development agencies over a long-term period including currently the North Wales Economic Forum and Mon a Menai initiatives.

Directors

Esys has two Directors: Karen Holmes (who holds a BSc in Operational Research and an MSc in Management Science); and Dr Glynn Jones (regional economics and planning).

Prior to joining Esys, Karen worked for private sector corporates as a business and market analyst.Karen is a business analyst and statistician. Glynn has worked in a consultancy environment specialising in regional economic development and regeneration issues, previously working for KPMG and EDAW.

Clients

Clients include private and public sector organisations. Esys has advised a range of firms from large corporates to small firms.

Our public sector clients include: the Waste Resource Action Programme (WRAP), Welsh Assembly Government, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Finance Wales Plc, North Wales Economic Forum, Regional development Agencies and local authorities.

Associstes

Esys can draw up on a list of associates and collaborating organisations, including our longstanding association with the Centre for Sustainable Regeneration (SURGE) at Coventry University where Glynn Jones is an Honorary Research Fellow. 

Esys also assist in the delivery of the BURA ‘Regeneration Training Programme’
